Participants will gain first-hand practical experience and understanding of the essential rules of Arbitration as applied in different Arbitral centres in Europe and U S. The seminar will be delivered, over two very full days, by experienced, well-known, International Arbitrators used to the multicultural, international flavour of modern commercial arbitration. The seminar will cover not only the practical knowledge needed by lawyers working in international commerce but will also simulate an international arbitration dispute relating to a, with workshops, teams and simulated strategy meetings, as well as argument development. There will be numerous breakout sessions, for the participants to work through the material in the presentations, in teams led by the speakers. All of this is intended to require full input from the participants to ensure they gain sufficient understanding of the cultural and legal practices involved to be able to participate in International Arbitration work in the future. The Seminar will also cover the latest developments and rule changes of the main Arbitration centres.

The speakers include:
Zannis Mavrogordato: Zannis is a British barrister and also an Avocat à la Cour de Paris. He is an acknowledged expert in international arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution having conducted numerous international arbitrations and litigation proceedings in both English and French, under the ICSID, ICC, LCIA, JCIA and UNCITRAL Rules. He has represented Governments and major international companies in disputes involving, on occasion, sums exceeding $2 Billion. He has worked in London, Paris and Bucharest and acted in cases involving parties from all around the world. Mahnaz Malik: Mahnaz is admitted as a Solicitor (England & Wales), an Attorney at Law (New York), and an Advocate (Pakistan). She received the prestigious Financial Times Legal Innovator of the Year Award in 2007. She has also served as a member of the ICC Commissions on Arbitration and Anti-Corruption and has taught international investment law to over 300 government officials from 30 countries. Mahnaz specialises in international investment treaties, investor-state contracts and international arbitration as well as other forms dispute settlement. Her recent experience includes advising governments of over 15 countries and 3 regional groupings across Africa, Asia and Latin America on bilateral and regional investment treaty negotiations, investor-state contracts, model investment treaties and foreign investment laws. She has conducted international arbitration and litigation proceedings in England as an associate with Simmons & Simmons in London, and has particular experience of ICSID, ICC, LCIA and ad hoc arbitration proceedings. David Holloway: David is an experienced U K Barrister and a member of Number 5 Chambers, London. He is also a lecturer in Law at the University of Essex and a visiting fellow of the Graduate School for International Dispute Settlement (MIDS), University of Geneva. David has spent over 7 years teaching International Arbitration and has authored numerous legal publications. Anthony Edwards: Anthony is an experienced U K Barrister and a member of Chancery House Chambers, Leeds. He is also a Chartered Arbitrator, FCIArb, Dip ICArb and IchemE, an Accredited Adjudicator: CIArb, IchemE and CIOB, an Accredited Mediator, CEDR, CIArb, TecSA and ADR Group and a Quantity Surveyor, BSc (Hons). In 2005 the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators awarded him the prestigious Cedric Barclay Prize for Best International Arbitration Award Writer. He has an extensive national and international law practice in heavy construction disputes arising from Building & Civil Engineering activities both nationally and internationally, drawing upon his experience as a quantity surveyor and a Chartered Arbitrator. He also deals with general commercial and contract disputes. He regularly publishes articles on Arbitration practice and procedure.
